BESA share industry best practice for tall buildings
BESA to facilitate open-sharing of industry best practice for tall buildings.
A shared knowledge-base, or ‘wiki’, has been set up by the Building Services Engineering Association (BESA) for technical guidance and standards for systems in tall buildings.
The wiki aims to bring together industry best practice, good design principles and all relevant standards, codes and regulations when tall buildings are being planned.
For the purpose of the wiki, ‘tall’ refers to any building where its height provides engineering challenges or means further considerations need to be made.
A wiki is a “website or database developed collaboratively by a community of users, allowing any user to add and edit content”.
Members of BESA who have particular experience of working in tall structures can submit their technical knowhow directly into the wiki.
The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and the Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) are both supporting BESA’s efforts to combine knowledge on this subject.
