Paviour – General Maintenance

A client of mine in Sunderland is looking for a Paviour to join their team for a period of 6 months, the main duties and general types of work required are :-

To carry out all types of highways duties ensuring compliance with specification, quality standards, and in accordance with all current relevant codes of practice and legislation
To carry out excavation, laying sub base to levels, laying base and wearing courses, concreting, laying small areas of paving and kerbing, etc
To install all types of street furniture including signal poles, guard rails, litter bins, cycle racks, etc and to liaise with suppliers on site where necessary
To erect and dismantle temporary traffic management including cones, signs, temporary traffic lights, barriers, etc
To plan and organise works directly from drawings, specifications or work instructions
To liaise with supervisors, clients, members of the public, and colleagues as required
To complete all necessary paperwork relating to the position
To drive, when required, any vehicle or plant deemed necessary that he/ she is licensed for, or received training for
To complete the Daily Pre-use Vehicle and Plant Inspection check sheets and report any issues to your Line Manager for action.

Health and Safety Duties
To ensure compliance with the requirements of all Health and Safety law and the requirements of the City’s and Departmental Health and Safety policies
Ensure all generic and project specific risk assessments are followed and complied with at all times
Work with skill and care following all supplier/ manufacturer guidance for the safe use of hand and power tools, plant, machinery, etc
To be responsible for adopting safe work methods and complying with all instruction, guidance and trigger levels when using vibratory tools, plant, machinery, etc
Take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of yourself and of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work
To cooperate fully with your employers in assisting them to fulfil their statutory duties
Comply fully with all CoSHH assessments, controls and regulations
Comply fully and be fully conversant with the Manual Handling Regulations
Comply fully and be fully conversant with the Work at Height Regulations
Comply with the authorities reporting and recording of incidents and accidents at work policies and procedures
Undertake any Health and Safety Training deemed necessary
Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required by Risk assessments, CoSHH assessments, training, etc

Please note this role falls inside IR35
