A client of mine in West London is looking for a Pensions Advisor to join their team for a period of 4 months to support the Pensions Manager in the day to day operation of the Retained Pension Client Service, which includes monitoring the pension administrator’s performance against set criteria.
To undertake a range of administrative duties in relation to the pension client function, including the provision and checking of information to support the accurate maintenance of scheme member records, and to monitor and assist employers in fulfilling their obligations to the pension fund.
Passes in GCE/GCSE level (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
Member of the PMI or IPPM.

Professional knowledge and experience:
An up-to-date working knowledge of the LGPS and the calculation of scheme member benefits.
A basic understanding of the obligations of employers and the Administering Authority in the management of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
An understanding of the different LGPS schemes and how they affect the calculation of scheme member benefits.
The ability to communicate basic LGPS regulations clearly and concisely to a range of audiences.
The ability to provide basic training and advice to scheme employers or their agents in connection with their administration of the LGPS.
An understanding of the calculation methods for pensionable CARE pay, whole-time equivalent pensionable pay, and pensionable pay for the purposes of the HMRC Annual Allowance calculation.
The ability to accurately calculate all types of pensionable pay based on payroll records and supporting information submitted by employers.
The ability to research member / employer records to ensure that gaps in pensionable remuneration are provided to the pension administrator so that pension benefits may be accurately calculated.
A basic understanding of LGPS Discretionary Regulations for employers and the discretionary regulations as they pertain to LBHF
Checking scheme member starter / leaver / changes data as appropriate against information held on the pension administration system and resolving all anomalies.
Monitoring, checking, reconciliation and archiving of incoming monthly schedules and remittances from scheme employers, and other monthly electronic submissions containing scheme member data.
Checking scheme employer year-end files and resolving any associated queries raised by the pension administrator.
