Public Health Protection Officer
A client of mine in Darlington is looking for a Public Health Protection Officer to join them for a period of 2 months to play a key role in supporting the Director of Public Health to respond to the current COVID-19 pandemic by ensuring that Darlington prevents further outbreaks or clusters of COVID-19 in the community through working in partnership and supporting key stakeholders.
Be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring and leading public health response to COVID-19 pandemic including managing outbreaks through acting as Single Point of Contact and participating in local Outbreak Control Teams to reduce and prevent onward transmission of COVID-19 in local communities in Darlington.
Provide specialist public health support and advice to Director of Public Health, officers of the authority, elected members, the NHS and other stakeholders and partners to deliver improved Public Health outcomes for communities in Darlington.
Qualifications & Education
Master’s in Public Health or equivalent
Project Management/Training qualification
Experience & Knowledge
Knowledge of the public health agenda and national policy
Knowledge of Health and Social Care Act 2012 and Coronavirus Act 2020
Knowledge of the main terms and concepts used in epidemiology
Knowledge and approximately 2 years’ experience of leadership development and implementation of strategies
Experience of working with and influencing partners in other professional groups and organisations
Understanding of local government processes
Approximately 5 years’ experience of working with public health/health protection/outbreak control/emergency response issues
Approximately 3 years’ experience of planning and organising resources to deliver project implementation
Experience of change management and organisational development
Experience of developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing policies and procedures
Experience of problem solving, being innovative and creative in terms of designing and implementing solutions
