Stride Resourcing are recruiting for a Permanent Senior Planning officer for a Fixed term 12 month contract.
You will work as a Senior Planning officer, supporting the Team leader and Development manager in providing a development management service to achieve the priorities and objectives of the council.
Main responsibilities include dealing with applications for planning permission (including major applications), advertisement consent, Listed Building consent, other applications under Local Development Orders, and discharge of conditions etc including, site inspections, negotiations with applicants/agents, consultations with appropriate departments, organisations, individuals, written reasoned justifications and formulating recommendations for consideration by Development Management Committee and Service Lead – Planning Strategy and Development Management.
Providing advice and guidance to the general public, agents and applicants and other sections and Departments of the Council, and other bodies on planning matters.
To negotiate and organise the necessary legal agreements and the monitoring and reviewing progress of planning obligations.
Preparing and presenting the Local Planning Authority’s case in connection with Appeals against the decisions of the Local Planning Authority.
Investigating breaches or alleged breaches of planning control and initiating enforcement procedures with liaison with the enforcement team.
Monitoring and reviewing progress of planning applications.
Support the Principal Planning Officer/Team Leader in supporting and mentoring junior officers within the team.
Liaison with infrastructure providers to ensure that all infrastructure (physical, social and community) is planned for and delivered at the appropriate juncture.
Develop and maintain a network of internal and external contact and to help promote partnership working and to attend relevant liaison groups.
Provide advice and support to the Planning Enforcement Officers in their duties of Investigating breaches or alleged breaches of planning control and initiating enforcement procedures.
Support the Development Manager in making sure that the Development Management Team offers a customer focused service using systems thinking principles.
Support the Council’s approach to equalities and diversity ensuring that our services and policies identify, address and promote the needs of our diverse community. This includes the need for safety of children and other vulnerable people.
Ensure awareness and compliance with the Council’s policies, Code of Conduct and Constitution.
Evaluate and assist in managing risk within the service.
You will need a minimum of 5 years experience of working within a planning team with particular experience of dealing with large scale major planning projects.
