A client of mine is looking to recruit a Technical Services Manager to work at a secure site in Central London. The Project will be replacing all of the equipment & plant around an existing borehole to provide up-to -date equipment & better control. Experience on similar projects would be advantageous. The contract will be around 12 months but could extend.

Reporting to the Project Director the candidate would be responsible for the management of the Technical Services elements of the Project.

A good general grounding in all aspects of Construction Technical Services installation is required.

The role is Site based & the working Hours from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday with occasional weekend working for OOH’s shutdowns as required.

Whilst this is a contract role there is the potential of permanent employment for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational responsibility for delivery of building services engineering works in terms of Health and Safety, programme, and quality.
  • Attend, and chair where appropriate, meetings with the Client, the designers, specialist contractors and other team members.
  • Contribute to the regular Client Project Report, and attend Project Meetings.
  • Review designers and contractors drawings for completeness of information and compliance with contract requirements (specification, ER, etc).
  • Check ongoing installation for compliance with contract requirements (specification, drawings etc.)
  • Provide expertise in planning and executing the detailed building services commissioning.
  • Co-ordinate & manage Client technical training on the installed systems
  • Responsible for the delivery of the building services works or the elements there off on the project.
  • Produce monthly Services Status Reports on their projects or provide information to support the overall project report.
  • Provide input in the production of the project programme.
  • Take part in formal Quality Audits of completed projects.

Skills, Knowledge, & Experience

  • Recognised qualification in Building Services Engineering or other appropriate engineering subject is preferred.
  • Candidates without formal engineering qualifications may be considered if they have acquired sufficient experience to demonstrate competence in the skills necessary to fulfil the role
  • Good general knowledge of building services systems & specifically experience in Boreholes & associated water treatment services.
  • Must be able to use a range of communication skills and adapt these as necessary.
  • Must be able to build trust and confidence through open communications and informing colleagues about issues that will affect their role.
  • Ability to make decisions.
  • Competent in Health and Safety management.
  • Programme driven, pushing each stage of the building services contract works.
  • Must be organised and prioritise own work to deliver on time through managing time effectively and in line with project goals
  • Must be agile and show flexibility to support the project team
  • Prepared to be innovative.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to build and develop relationships e.g. marketing relationships with external professionals and clients, strategic relationships with contractors and suppliers.
