Are you an accountant looking for a new opportunity? Are you AAT (or ACCA) qualified with an interest in a career role working in Service Charge Budgets in the Property sector?

My client, a national Property Management company, are seeking an enthusiastic Trainee Service Charge Accountant, to come join their vibrant team in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

The role:

  • Support in the production of residential service charge accounts
  • Support the reconciliation of independently prepared accounts
  • Assist with client liaison on all accounting matters
  • Undertake internal liaison with Property Managers
  • Assisting with complex queries from Property Managers
  • Help in the production of year end certificates and explanations with final accounts
  • Working to deadlines
  • Supporting the Property Managers and Branch Managers in the local branch
  • Assisting RMC Directors in the understanding of the service charge accounts
  • Ensuring RICS Service Charge Residential Management Code is adhered to

You will require:
Ideal, but not essential:

  • Understanding of leasehold property accounting
  • Knowledge of lease interpretation, apportionment, schedules, balancing and reserve fund compliance
  • Knowledge of Section 20B legislation


  • Level 4 AAT qualification
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Knowledge of double entry booking keeping
