A client of mine who is a large organisation specialising in providing Domestic Housing is looking to recruit an Associate Director to work within their Property Maintenance division of the business. We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team in a leadership role. As an associate Director, you will play a crucial role in bringing our new ways of working to life, while also overseeing maintenance and improvements across a large property portfolio. You will be responsible for both responsive repairs and planned maintenance, as well as managing empty homes.

The selected Associate Director will hold outstanding Leadership skills as you will be leading a team of approximately 350 individuals in delivering a customer-centric, value-for-money property repairs and maintenance service. You will champion our values of Connect, Deliver, Invent and Own, working alongside talented colleagues to create a truly customer-focused culture.

The role also has a strong commercial aspect, as you will be responsible for preparing and controlling large, complex annual budgets, ensuring appropriate monitoring of expenditure and compliance with procedures, levels of authority, and audit requirements. You will be expected to deliver improvement programs and projects to agreed financial standards and targets, ensuring customer satisfaction and cost-effectiveness.

As the successful candidate, you will also be responsible for leading on all strategic and functioning elements of service delivery across localities in both residential and non-residential portfolios. You will drive business effectiveness and innovative solutions to improve customer service and efficiency while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

To be considered for this position, you must have experience managing a multi-disciplinary, customer-focused team in a large and complex organization. You should possess excellent demonstrable knowledge of program development and performance improvement in a customer-focused environment. You should also have the ability to plan, track, and forecast income and expenditure against relevant budgets, delivering a value-for-money service while taking actions to mitigate any risks.

The ideal candidate should be able to analyse business information and formulate metrics that deliver permanent or consolidated progress. You should exhibit strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and value-driven behaviours to fulfil our ambitious corporate goals. Evidence of delivering innovative concepts, utilizing future changes in policy to support flexibility in a responsive organization, is also desirable.

In addition to possessing strong leadership skills, the successful candidate should have the ability to inspire, support, and develop others to optimize their performance. You should have a track record of meeting deadlines and working effectively with others in a complex and dynamic environment. You should also possess strong people skills and be an effective communicator, able to influence and challenge.

Knowledge of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation with a focus on compliance within all activities undertaken by the teams is essential. The ability to communicate responsibilities to data users and assure the proper use of data, as well as understanding data breaches, associated implications, and industry standards of preventing/triaging a breach, is also a plus.

The ideal candidate should have evidence of excellent customer service achievements in a complex delivery environment. You should have excellent communication and leadership abilities, as well as proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate or advanced Excel skills. Membership of a professional body is also desirable.
