Are you a structural / bridge engineer and STE4 competent? Do you live in, or can commute between Manchester and York? Interested in move to a global consultancy?
I’m working with a well-established and leading global consultancy within Rail operating on high-profile infrastructure projects across the UK. I’m searching for an experienced Bridge Assessment Engineer to undertake and review structural assessments, produce reports, and liaise with both the Bridges team and the client to provide a technical overview of structures.
Current project involvement includes TRU (TransPennine Route Upgrade) and PSU (Power Supply Upgrade) on East Coast Mainline. Most, if not all, will be day work with occasional weekends as required.
This role offers flexible agile working and the ability to be based out of either their Manchester or York office. You will be providing a significant input on TRU and PSU, as well as other bridge maintenance, repair, and renewal packages with Design and Build contractors.

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer
  • Experienced in Bridge Design and assessments on Rail projects
  • Experience working in CRE role within bridge design
  • Experience undertaking STE4 duties, STE2 is favourable
  • Experience developing and leading teams
  • Experience of providing technical leadership to design teams
  • Experience working on Network Rail Bridge Assessments
  • PTS certificate
  • Committed to continuous improvement and learning
  • Proficient in use of spoken and written English language
  • UK citizen or indefinite leave to remain

ROLE

  • Undertake and review Bridge assessments in line with Network Rail standards
  • Record and track documents electronically and monitor adherence to quality assurance
  • Ensure compliance with Client, Company, National, and International standards and policies
  • Delivery of work to programme, budget, and specification
  • Aid in development of junior staff through training and mentoring
  • Contribute to development of the office by introducing improvements to procedures, and practices
  • Implement effective, value for money, and innovative design solutions to meet technical project requirements
  • 6 month contract (Outside IR35) with a view of extension.
  • Working on TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU) and Power Supply Upgrade (PSU) on East Coast Mainline!
  • 2/3 days in office (York or Manchester) or on site, and the remainder from home.
  • Flexible agile working.
  • Working with other like-minded engineers and technicians to complete challenging major projects throughout the UK.
