Fire Safety Advisor
A client of ours is looking for an experience Fire Safety Advisor to join their team based in North London, this is a 3 month initial contract and the successful candidate will provide professional advice and training for Fire Safety on behalf of the client.
The post holder will be responsible for fire safety training of all staff and will devise, revise and improve training and evacuation methods commensurate to the needs and requirements of the organisation as well as provide informed advice to the client in relation to Fire strategies, management and develop reports and policies to comply with legislative requirements and guides.
They will form part of a multi-disciplinary team whose role is to provide the best possible Fire Prevention and Safety Service arrangements. Will have excellent working relationships with departmental managers to achieve the post-holders objectives. A professional attitude and manner is essential for this role.
Education, Training & Qualifications
Science or engineering based education or extensive experience of fire safety.
Member of Institute of Fire Engineers or other professional Fire body e.g. Institute of Fire Prevention Officers.
NAHFO – membership required or gained.
Degree or significant experience of fire safety management.
Knowledge & Experience
Understanding of fire modelling techniques.
Knowledge of risk management techniques.
Significant experience in Fire Safety and in an operational/management environment with a portfolio to demonstrate proven track record and wide range of expertise.
Fire Safety Legislation and Codes of Practice.
Fire Engineering.
Fire Safety Training and Fire Safety Audits
Skills & Abilities
Excellent communicator at all levels, Ability to compile accurate, complex and concise reports and complex documentation.
Ability to organise self and others and manage a budget and competently monitor high levels of financial expenditure.
Work as part of a team and Self-motivated.
Flexible and adaptable in order to meet competing complex priorities.
Undertaking, recording and reporting fire risk assessments.
Providing expert technical advice on the application and interpretation of fire safety guidance, and provide expert advice on fire legislation
assisting with the review of the content of the trust’s fire safety policy and with the development and delivery of a suitable and sufficient training program for staff.
The preparation of fire prevention and emergency action plans and investigation of all fire-related incidents and fire alarm actuation.
Liaise with the enforcing authorities on technical issues and managers and staff on fire safety issues.
Please note this position falls inside IR35.
