Health & Safety Inspector

A client of mine is looking for a fully qualified Health & Safety professional with experience in identifying risks in residential and high-rise buildings to join their team for a short-term contract. You will be responsible for undertaking an ongoing programme of H&S inspections and property risk assessments within the communal areas of all residential blocks throughout housing stock in Central London. Inspections to ensure health & safety and fire safety standards are maintained, hazards and repairs are identified, reported & escalated where necessary in a timely manner.

Experience within fire is crucial as you will need to progress, post-inspect and monitor completion of actions required by Fire Risk Assessments, London Fire Brigade Notices of Deficiency etc and assist with installation of signage.

Duties
Identify deficiencies in premises condition (H&S and Fire Safety related)
Identify deficiencies in practices and processes (H&S and Fire Safety related)
Record defects / repairs identified as new actions using H&S Inspection workflow (on CRM system)
Provide advice and guidance to staff and residents as necessary
Produce formal reports as required to demonstrate progress with inspection programme, identify any recurring issues, escalation reports etc.

General

Review & respond to H&S action requests such as providing / guidance advice, attending inspections, investigating accidents etc
Working closely with other teams to complete work and ensuring they have a clear understanding of legislative requirements and the required priority.
Undertaking post-inspections to ensure that work is complete and to the required standard to resolve deficiency.

The appointed candidate will work closely with the Estate Services Team providing training, support, guidance, advice & assistance where required. As necessary to provide clarification to estate staff on the required standards, the necessary action and when to escalate issues. Moreover you will also work closely with Contract Management and Repairs Direct to progress communal repairs particularly in relation to Gas Safety, Electrical Safety, Lifting Equipment, Asbestos, Water Hygiene (legionella). Highlight trends, recurring issues, concerns about contractor performance etc. and suggest how these can best be addressed.

Qualifications

NEBOSH Diploma or Equivalent
IOSH Managing Safely
Enhanced DBS
