Health & Safety Manager
A client of mine is looking for a Corporate Health and Safety Manager on a 3 month contract, to act as a competent expert on health and safety including: fire, gas, asbestos, water hygiene, lift, staff and contractor well-being and general risk management.
You will be the voice of Health & Safety and be responsible for a large portfolio of buildings. You role will be to ensure they all have sufficient safety management systems in place in compliance with legislation and best practice, across a range of industries including Corporate Property, Housing, Schools, Adult Social Care, Children’s Services and Environment.
You will be accountable for providing assurance through monitoring, auditing, inspecting, and reporting to senior management and elected members. To raise issues where risk is unacceptable and to take decisive action, including instructing practices to stop. To put forward recommendations and monitor their implementation.
To maintain and update the health and safety management system, policies, and procedures and ensure of their proper implementation.
To provide a comprehensive safety advisory service to all departments including the production of health and safety guidance notes, safe working instructions and safety checklists.
To corporately co-ordinate, audit and monitor the activities and responsibilities of all departments under Health and Safety legislation and to maintain the health and safety risk register.
Report on all aspects of performance, against targets as appropriate and to manage the Corporate Safety Committee and other relevant health and safety boards.
