Local Land Charges Officer
A client of mine in Dorset is looking for a Local Land Charges Officer to join their team for a period of 5 months to provide technical and administrative support and assistance to the Head of Legal Services and Local Land Charges Team Leader, currently the role is working from home, post-covid though and once all restrictions have been lifted the business continues to look at more flexible ways of working so it is likely that the majority of a working week would continue from home, however, this cannot currently be confirmed.
1. Deliver an effective and efficient statutory local land charges service
2. Undertake support, administrative and processing duties in accordance with departmental procedures and timescales
3. Provide a land charges service and respond to enquiries from members of the public, solicitors and external stakeholders
Ideally the candidate would also have some experience of a mapping system, i.e. ArcMap, MapInfo or QGIS or other.
Qualifications/ training/registrations
A benchmark of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at C grade or above that includes Mathematics and English or be able to demonstrate relevant experience
Good standard or keyboard, numeracy and written literacy skills
Relevant and transferable experience in an administrative role using computerized systems
Proven ability to take structured decisions, particularly in accordance with legislation
Effective communicator and interpersonal skills particularly on the telephone
Proven ability to handle customer enquiries
Experience of working under pressure in a busy work environment
Ability to work within and contribute to the delivery of an excellent team
Confident with using numbers, experience of dealing with invoices is preferable
Skills, abilities & knowledge
Proven effective knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures
Knowledge of a range of service specific IT systems, including Word, Excel, email and databases.
Able to demonstrate administrative skills
Ability to build and sustain good working relationships.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
Ability to retain information and produce accurate/quality work
Able to prioritise workload and complete tasks under pressure
Ability to build up knowledge of policy, legislation and developments in the field of work relevant to the function
