STR are working with a specialist sub-contractor in the mechanical and electrical contracting marketplace.
They are an established specialist with over 25 years history of delivering projects ranging in scope and value from £2 – £18m mainly on repeat business with both Tier 1 national large regional contractors.
They specialise in the commercial, education and healthcare marketplaces and have specialist teams working on tendering and pre-construction, design and technical, operational management through to on site delivery and directly employ a majority of their delivery teams.
They are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team for a recently awarded scheme near Southampton. The project is for the full mechanical and electrical package for an office block and their package is valued at circa £3 million. The project is a 5-storey steel frame traditional build and the M&E works are scheduled to commence in August.
The client ideally wants someone to start within the next 4 weeks so they can familiarise themselves with the scheme and get involved in checking and evaluating the scope of works, programme, design and critical pathways before taking the scheme out to site and taking full responsibility for all commercial aspects of the programme.
These duties will include meeting with the main contractor and other specialist trades on site, managing the costs and programme with the site production team of a Project Manager and 2no. specialist supervisors. You will also be responsible for applications for payment, valuations, CVR meetings, pricing of additional works and all the legal and QA responsibilities as well as all the financial reporting and forecasting for the project and will be reporting directly to the Commercial Director.
You should ideally be Degree Qualified with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the M&E marketplace and be able to demonstrate sound commercial judgement and the ability to successfully manage a complex and challenging package.
