We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Principle SHE Manager. Our non-profit client works to resolve the environmental impacts of mining to property. As the Principle SHE Manager you will support the Head of SHE in developing and implementing an effective management system and the achievement of the corporate objectives of the organisation.
To deputise for the Head of SHE where requested and assist with the development and delivery of the corporate SHE objectives

  • To manage the SHE team to ensure the achievement of team objectives and milestones in line with corporate strategy and objectives
  • To manage the development, implementation, monitoring, review and continual improvement of the organisations SHE management systems
  • To ensure an effective construction SHE service that supports projects teams in meeting the requirements of the CDM Regulations 2015 and supports sustainability objectives
  • To performance manage the SHE team, ensuring personal objectives are set that reflect the team objectives and support their personal development to the benefit of the organisation and the individual.
  • To ensure the timely provision of advice and guidance on SHE legislation and the implementation of best practice across the organisation’s teams and activities.
  • To maintain an up to date knowledge of relevant EU/UK SHE legislation, codes of practice and guidance and support the Head of SHE in ensuring these are reflected in the SHE management system
  • To provide timely advice on the implications of new legislation where they will impact on the organisation’s activities
  • To establish and maintain systems that facilitate delivery of legally compliant and effective SHE training, so that employees are competent to undertake their health and safety duties

Qualifications & Training
Occupational H & S qualification at equivalent Level 5 or above
Chartered H & S Practitioner (CMIOSH or FIOSH), Associate of IEMA, APS CMaPS
Institute of Leadership and Management qualification at level 5/6
Experience & Knowledge
Extensive experience of SHE management and associated legislation in a wide range sectors including mining, construction, civil engineering or related disciplines
Proven people management experience
Experience of dealing with the health, safety and environmental aspects of coal mining related legacy issues (e.g. structural/ground stability, water and gas hazards)
A knowledge of sustainability and sustainable development principles and experience of delivering sustainability improvements within an organisation

Good analytical skills
Ability to deliver objectives to agreed deadlines
Full driving licence
Prepared for overnight stays and to undertake business travel across the UK.
Salary & Benefits
£34,579 – £52,882 per annum
