With a range of very complex highways schemes currently under way across the South of England, Highways England are looking to bring on someone to perform a very varied role within their major projects team. Joining a team of six within their Bristol Office, you will support their Property and Compensation team and take on a lead position supporting these landmark schemes.

About you:

It is likely that you will have an interest in infrastructure or construction, you could come from a Project Management / Coordination background, or be someone who has studied surveying or construction, the route is not as important, what is important is that you will be motivated and able to work productively within a team environment.

You will need to be someone with excellent attention to detail, an ability to swiftly pick up and gain a full working knowledge of software packages, commercially minded, accurate and diligent.

It could be that a RICS pathway is your preferred career path, in which case they will give you everything you need. You may want to progress into a Project Management role, again that will be supported.

The role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in the Major Projects Directorate with a skilled team who manage the acquisition of land for complex schemes such as Stonehenge, Lower Thames Crossing and the A14 Huntingdon – Cambridge. You will gain valuable experience and the option of working towards RICS accreditation. You will:

  • Support the Property & Compensation team, arranging for payments on property & compensation matters.
  • Be responsible for maintaining the company’s property record system along with administrative and financial records for all projects.
  • Ensure that the land and rights required for the scheme are acquired and that related costs are paid promptly and appropriately in accordance with legislation, policy and the compensation code.
  • Work with colleagues and customers, building effective relationships to ensure that all claimants and affected landowners receive excellent customer service
  • Maintain accurate records, collate and analyse information in enable effective decision making.
  • Respond to enquiries from stakeholders and advise on our processes for dealing with cases.
