Senior CAD Technician

I’m recruiting for a well-established and reputable global design consultancy dealing predominantly within Rail for major projects across the UK. The business is aggressively expanding due to obtaining further Network Rail projects.
They are looking for CAD Technicians of all levels to deliver high quality drawings in line with relevant Network Rail CAD standards. At senior level you will be required to assist with the development of other more junior CAD Technicians which will further aid in the growth of the business.


  • Experience mentoring other CAD Technicians and other junior members of the team
  • Experience with MicroStation ideally, AutoCAD will still be considered
  • Experience of reinforced concrete detailing within an industry standard software package is desirable
  • Experience working on infrastructure projects
  • Ability to mentor and provide support to junior members of the team
  • Experience working on new build and bridge replacements, and bridge repair and strengthening detailing
  • Experience using data management systems
  • Knowledge of Network Rail CAD standards and procedures
  • Experience within a BIM environment
  • Ability to work well independently and in a multi-disciplinary design team
  • Proficient in use of spoken and written English language
  • UK citizen or indefinite leave to remain


  • Reporting into the CAD manager
  • Assist in development of junior technicians within the team
  • Develop designs using required CAD systems into quality technical drawings
  • Advise project leads on issues with either CAD standards or production issues which may lead to cost increase
  • Maintain drawing records and ensure accurate document control
  • Deliver a portfolio of projects to the required quality, time and budget, and showing self-checking
  • Have a positive attitude towards checking and quality
  • Monitor project and team performance against CAD standards and quality requirements, correct as applicable
  • If requested, assist project leads with pricing CAD scope of work
  • Be innovative and introduce improvements where appropriate to areas of responsibility
  • Working on Rail focused projects.
  • Working with other like-minded technicians and engineers to complete challenging projects throughout the UK.
