I’m searching for a experienced Civil Structural Engineer (within Rail would be desirable) operating at a Senior level. The ideal candidate will also be Incorporated or Chartered (or pending professional review).
The business is well-established and have been in operation for over 20 years. With multiple locations around the UK, the business is continually expanding and soon to be opening another office to cover the southern regions.

ABOUT YOU

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Incorporated (IEng) or Chartered (CEng) status with ICE or IStructE, or on route to sitting professional review
  • Minimum 3-years design consultancy experience
  • Experience using design software including TEDDS, Robot, CADS-RC, Superstress etc
  • Working knowledge of Eurocodes and associated industry and group standards
  • Experience in Rail Civil & Structural engineering design and familiar with Network Rail policies is desirable
  • Able to manage commercial aspects of projects through to completion
  • PTS certificate is desirable
  • Able to work on various projects simultaneously and independently when required
  • Demonstrate capability of working on multi-project programmes
  • Experience in drainage, earthworks, steelwork or structural surveys is desirable
  • Committed to continuous improvement and learning
  • Proficient in use of spoken and written English language
  • Valid UK driving license
  • UK citizen or indefinite leave to remain

ROLE

  • Manage day-to-day requirements for all areas of project delivery; including technical, safety and financial aspects to maintain compliance to company QA policy and procedures
  • Deliver project work in accordance with client remit and Head of Rail requirements on time, in full, and on budget
  • Respond to Head of Rail request in a timely and professional manner
  • Secure regular and ongoing projects from key Rail clients
  • Keeping clients informed of costs or implications of change in a timely manner and address any issues that may arise
  • Meet business critical KPIs including safety and financial matrix
  • Mentor and coach direct reports, and provide input into succession planning
  • Undertake where required on site project works within the Rail environment, sometimes at night and/or to remote locations, to identify issues and solve problems in a safe and professional manner
  • Manage own CPD and Development Action Plan with support from the Head of Rail
  • Manage and coordinate the production of technical drawings
  • Maintain engineering technical knowledge of standards, policies and procedures
  • Represent the company at meetings with clients, contractors, design teams etc
  • Maintain understanding of commercial aspects of projects and ensure cost control measures
  • Ensuring designs meet specification and expectation
  • Be innovative and introduce improvements where appropriate to areas of responsibility
  • Flexible home working. 2/3 days in office, remainder from home.
  • Open to incorporating other engineers and technicians known to yourself within the team.
