Senior Communications Officer
Home based with occasion visits to the London Office in Paddington
35 hours per week Monday to Friday
£19.23 per hour PAYE or £24.63 Umbrella
My client is a national housing provider and is looking for a Senior Communications Officer to join their team based in London for a period of 3 months with the possibility to extend beyond this for the right candidate, you will be joining a team with 26 members of staff – this includes communications, digital communications, and policy. There is no requirement to be from a housing background, internal comms experience is the key.
This role is mainly home based but you would be asked to come into the office (Paddington) around once a fortnight, and as this role includes organising the business’ Christmas Party there may also be a couple of London-based days for that project. The role would require using own laptop/computer and access to Wi-Fi while working from home.
Job Description: Manage and proactively deliver communications projects.
Duties:

  • You will be managing a range of communications projects and campaigns, including organising the staff Christmas party and supporting on the ‘new normal’ project. This will include planning, writing and publishing content, liaising with stakeholders and external agencies and reporting on results.
  • Editing publications, working on internal campaigns.

Volume of work:

  • Large workload amongst the team, fast paced, not crazy, ability to self-manage and brief and get on with it.
  • This will be set with objectives and deadlines that are agreed upfront and will be monitored in a weekly catch-up with the line manager.

Person Spec:
* Substantial internal comms experience.
* Excellent planning, project management skills – you’ll be confident managing several projects at once
* Have delivered a range of internal comms campaigns, ideally within a large, complex organisation.
* Strong copywriting, editing, proofreading skills for different audiences and online/offline purposes.
* Basic-intermediate desktop design skills using Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop).
* Events management experience
* A positive, influential and resilient people person that has ability to work within a complex, busy and changing environment
Essential criteria:
* Strong copywriting, editing, proofreading skills for different audiences and online/offline purposes.
* Strong self-management ability.
* Has delivered a range of internal comms campaigns, ideally within a large, complex organisation.
* Proven ability to manage and proactively deliver internal communications projects.
* Strong senior officer level comms experience – particularly internal.
* Excellent planning, project management skills – needs to be able to work across several projects at once.
* Excellent copywriting/news writing skills.
* Events management experience.
* A positive, influential, and resilient people person that has ability to work within a complex, busy, and changing environment.
* You must have experience in communications in a large organisation, not necessarily housing.
* Experience will be ideally gained within the last 5 years, with exception for career breaks in long term service.
Computer skills:

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop).
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft systems, Office, Excel etc.
  • Training will be provided on A2Dominion systems.

Types of projects you’ll be working on:

  • Internal comms projects and campaigns- 80%
    • Staff events, inc. staff party
    • New Normal
  • Assist Head of Corporate Communications with external comms projects – 20%.
  • A hands-on delivery role.
  • No line management but likely to require supervision within matrix environment.
