We are a fast-growing, and award-winning Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering and Transport Planning consultancy. We are offering an exciting opportunity for a civil engineering technician role to support a wide variety of engineering work in an expanding team.

DUTIES

· Work in a design environment with regular exposure to developers, architects and local authorities

· Preparation of reports, designs, specifications and contract documents for various project types

· Preparation of fee proposals

· Design of structural elements in all materials to current standards and practices

· Prepare calculation packs for submission to local authorities

· Prepare NBS specification

· Assist in the development of other members of staff, providing assistance and knowledge to enable progression

· Demonstrate excellent written and face-to-face communication, with clear and concise presentation

· To technically review designs produced by others and verify completeness to technical and company standards

· Work closely with both Senior Staff and Managing Director on the proposal of new projects coming into the business

· Full responsibility and Project management of technical schemes to meet the requirements and expectations of clients

· Be aware of the financial health of project fees and work within the fee of each project

· Help prepare for, attend and record internal and client project meetings

· Co-operate with the Quality Management System through undertaking administrative activities

· Carry the company brand and reputation through business development and marketing input

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Accredited Honors degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering
  • Chartered member (or working towards) of either Institution of Structural Engineers of Civil Engineers
  • Previous Engineering experience of more than 8 years, with knowledge and understanding of structural engineering design and construction
  • Experience and understanding of working directly with design and build contractors, local authorities and architects
  • Knowledge of construction, health and safety regulations, building regulations and design codes
  • Ability to work with a team of Engineers and Graduates leading by example
  • Familiarity of AutoCAD/Revit systems
  • Knowledge of design software such as TEKLA, TEDDS and MasterSeries
  • Financial awareness
  • Organise and prioritise your own time and tasks to enable the simultaneous running of several projects
  • Good ability to build up and maintain client and team relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and politely
  • Project management skills from initial start-up through to completion
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to work effectively with other staff and as part of a team
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Fast and accurate typing skills, high level of proficiency in Microsoft packages
