Signalling & Systems Lead DART+

My client is seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Signalling and Systems Lead.

The successful candidate will report to the Head of PMO & Systems Team Lead, DART+ Programme, and will have the responsibility to assist in the delivery of capital projects, act as a focus for safety, ensure all projects are properly organised and processed, to manage, control and coordinated projects, to ensure strong communication with all colleagues.

ROLE & PURPOSE:

Signalling Lead

  • Ensure that signalling design complies with the design process.
  • Ensure products specified in design have required Product Acceptance.
  • Ensure that signalling design meets agreed scope and signalling design specification.
  • Ensure that signalling design meets agreed implementation strategy & programme.
  • Liaise with Design to monitor their design compliance with CDM Regulations.
  • Liaise with SET Signalling Designated Project Engineer and signalling designer, managing communication and technical requirements.
  • Liaise with external multidisciplinary consultants, such as respective Project Engineers.
  • Manage the Bill of Materials for signalling project and liaise with Procurement department.
  • Support design Interdisciplinary Checks and Reviews to client process, ensuring readiness between signalling designer and SET Designated Project Engineer.
  • Lead and participate in engineering meetings with Design and SET to deliver project to scope and programme.
  • Lead technical discussions and meetings for signalling on behalf of DART+.
  • Notify Head of PMO & Systems Team Lead of all potential scope changes and comply with Change Control process for the project, updating the applicable register when required.
  • Assist Head of PMO & Systems Team Lead, DART+ to implement required engineering for project to programme and budget.
  • Assist SET Designated Project Engineer and Design for any applications for temporary or permanent derogations to client Standards.
  • To deputise for Head of PMO & Systems Team Lead when required.
  • Support junior members of the DART+ team, including personnel in training, such as graduates or apprentices.

Systems Lead

  • Ensure products specified in design have required Product Acceptance.
  • Ensure that systems design meets agreed scope and systems design specification.
  • Ensure that systems design meets agreed implementation strategy & programme.
  • Liaise with Design to monitor their design compliance with CDM Regulations.
  • Manage technical issues and their resolution between systems designer and SET department.
  • Liaise with SET Designated Project Engineers and systems designer, managing communication and technical requirements.
  • Liaise with external multidisciplinary consultants, such as respective Project Engineers.
  • Manage the Bill Of Materials for systems project and liaise with Procurement department.
  • Support design Interdisciplinary Checks and Reviews to client process, ensuring readiness between systems designer and SET Designated Project Engineer.
  • Lead and participate in engineering meetings with Design and SET to deliver project to scope and programme.

Key Qualities:

Essential:

  • Recognised academic & practical qualification to demonstrate competence in the necessary technical skills and experience.
  • Member of Engineers Ireland or other relevant professional body.
  • Minimum of 5 years project engineering experience in railway engineering or similar multi-disciplinary engineering environment.
  • Relevant project engineering experience for projects of a similar complexity.
  • Demonstrable ability to manage engineering process and associated issues.
  • A good working knowledge of railway signalling system.
  • A good understanding of major railway engineering discipline interfaces.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Good communicator.

Desirable:

  • An Engineering degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Chartered status.
  • Knowledge of railway infrastructure and railway operations.
  • Knowledge of the Construction Regulations.
  • Experience and understanding of Safety Assurance processes.
